Watch Dogs Legion has "20 different versions of the script"

Watch Dogs Legion was unveiled during Ubisoft E3 2019 conference as the third instalment in the Watch Dogs series and the sequel to Watch Dogs 2

The game is set in the near future, after the UK left the European Union. The accelerating rise of automation and AI has left millions of people unemployed, wiping out both blue and white collar jobs. The economy is collapsing, the government is losing power, and cryptocurrencies have overtaken the pound. Organized crime is sweeping over London, and people are being taken from their homes, pressed into deportation centers. People who speak up get investigated, and at times, disappear.

One of the exciting new elements in Watch Dogs: Legion is the ability to recruit and play as anyone you see walking the streets

In a recent interview with EDGE magazine in their August 2019 issue, Watch Dogs Legion creative director Clint Hocking revealed that legion has "20 different versions of the script".

"There’s no dude on the box who’s there to start all the cinematics and the people you recruit are just the supporting cast." said Hocking "There are 20 different versions of Legion’s script and I don’t just mean people saying the same lines. We’re talking different characters, different personas, different voices, different acting."

"We’re using technology to alter all the voices so that even if you happen to recruit Joe and John and they have the same actor and the same personality when they talk to each other, you won’t know it’s the same actor because we modulate the voices. We used photogrammetry to capture dozens of different faces, which have been combined using innovative animation techniques to produce literally thousands of unique heads."

"Whether you choose some suave, sophisticated secret agent dude, or some 80-year-old lady that you saw feeding pigeons in the park, your story is going to be uniquely yours."

Watch Dogs Legion is set to release on March 6, 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia.
